New Zealand Income Support Survey
The New Zealand Income Support Survey is a nationwide survey.
We are hearing from around 2,000 New Zealanders about:
- their awareness of income support payments,
- their possible eligibility, and
- their experiences applying for income support.
People from a diverse range of backgrounds and communities receive, or are eligible for, income support. We are asking about what life is like for them, to better understand their situations.
The survey is being done for the Ministry of Social Development and Inland Revenue. Researchers will use the information to better understand how the income support system affects people, and to help inform policy and improve the way that income support payments are made available to people.
The survey is voluntary. People can say no to taking part if they want to or say yes and only answer the questions they feel comfortable answering.
We really encourage people to take part, to share their experiences, and to help us gather information that can help improve the income support system. People can do survey interviews in Te Reo Māori, or in another language if that suits them.
All information people provide will be anonymised. Researchers at the Ministry of Social Development and Inland Revenue will not be able to identify people who take part in the survey from the information they receive. No-one else at the Ministry of Social Development and Inland Revenue will have access to the information.
People’s answers won’t affect what they receive from the Ministry of Social Development or Inland Revenue.
As a koha/thank you for taking part, everyone who takes part receives a $30 gift card.
