Nic Blakeley – Deputy Chief Executive, Transformation
Role and responsibilities

Nic leads the team responsible for the design and implementation of our Te Pae Tawhiti programme, delivering a new service approach to meet the needs of clients and whānau. This group includes the capability to ensure change activity is managed across MSD, as well as the Improvement, Systems and Technology group.
What working for MSD means to me
"It's a real privilege to be part of an organisation that helps so many New Zealanders, often at times in their lives where they need support to get back on their feet. We owe it to them to make MSD the best it can be, and we owe it to ourselves to create the type of organisation that we enjoy working for and gets the best out of us.”
Background
Nic started at MSD in 2013 as Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) of Social Policy. In 2017, Nic became the DCE of Strategy and Insights. Nic was Senior Responsible Officer for the initial phase of MSD’s Te Pae Tawhiti programme, before being appointed Deputy Chief Executive Transformation in August 2022.
Before coming to MSD, Nic worked at Treasury in a range of policy areas, including a period as economic advisor to the Minister of Finance.
