Sacha O'Dea - Deputy Chief Executive, Strategy and Insights
Role
Sacha leads the Strategy and Insights group which is responsible for the development and implementation of MSD’s strategy by creating insights for effective decision making, focusing resources on the right investments, and understanding and evaluating performance.
What it means to me
“I appreciate being part of an organisation that is there for New Zealanders, when they need support, no matter who they are. For some, we are a short-term helping hand that enables them to get their lives back on track through the right job or house, and for others such as seniors and disabled people, we will be there for the long term. I also really like working in MSD because you are part of a large team of people who are there because they want to make a difference for the most disadvantaged. You get to see and hear how your work impacts people across New Zealand and makes their lives better.”
Background
Sacha came back to MSD in June 2022 from the Policy Advisory Group in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet where she provided advice on Education, COVID-19, and Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities Portfolios. This is Sacha’s second stint at MSD, having spent five years as a Policy General Manager between 2012 and 2017. She has worked in a range of policy and operational roles across the social sector including at the Ministry of Health, ACC, Department of Labour and the Ministry of Housing.
