Balancing family and work obligations

We have a range of policies and practices to support employees with caring responsibilities to have a good work-life fit and to balance family and work obligations.

This includes parental leave, parental leave payment on return to work (ex gratia payment), flexible working arrangements, preferential re-engagement after childcare, and a range of leave options that support caring responsibilities.

We are progressing with an approach to flexible working that is visible, accessible and equitable for all our people. Flexible working aims to enhance people’s experience of working at MSD and to help us deliver a positive client experience by thinking differently about when, where and how we best serve our diverse clients.

A review of the current state of flexible work in MSD is in progress to gain an understanding about the culture, capability and infrastructural changes needed to move from the current state to flexible by default.

We are participating in the Public Sector flexible work workshops to help build a consistent cross-agency approach to flexible work.
