Tauākī Whakamaunga Atu | Statement of Intent
As a government department, the Tauākī Whakamaunga Atu | Statement of Intent (SOI) is one of our core accountability documents required by legislation. It sets out who we are and what we do, what we want to achieve, and what will help us get there.
This page presents our current SOI and has links to our archived versions.
Our SOI 2022-2026 recognises the work we have already achieved on our shifts and sets out where we want to go next.
Highlights from the SOI 2022-2026 include:
- our continuing commitment to our strategic direction Te Pae Tawhiti – Our Future, as well as Te Pae Tata – our Māori strategy and action plan, and our Pacific strategy and action plan, Pacific Prosperity – Our People, Our Solutions, Our Future
- the role our Te Pae Tawhiti Programme will play in our future, transforming MSD so we can better understand, connect to, support, and deliver for clients, their whānau, and communities
- the establishment of Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People, which will lead and coordinate disability policy across government to improve outcomes for disabled people
- our revised MSD outcomes framework, presented as a raranga (a weave), which emphasises that changes to how we deliver our services through our shifts – Mana manaaki, Kotahitanga and Kia takatū tātou – will have an impact on achieving our outcomes.
