Becoming a volunteer
Being involved in intergenerational initiatives provides an opportunity for volunteers to:
- gain new insights into the needs and aspirations of young people
- contribute to your community
- learn new skills
- meet new people and make new friends.
Here are some questions to help older volunteers identify how to become involved in intergenerational initiatives.
- What type of programmes or activities interest you?
- What type of roles and tasks would you be interested in?
- What can you offer to these initiatives for example skills, life experiences?
- What would you like to gain from being involved in this initiative?
- Do you already provide voluntary services or activities that involve young people?
- What resources and time do you have available to assist with these initiatives?
