2017 Annual Report of the Public Housing System
The third annual projection model and report on New Zealand’s public housing system.
The Ministry of Social Development uses the modelling provided in these reports to better understand how people move through the public housing system, to forecast demand for housing services and support, and to shape future provision.
Our modelling work helps build an understanding of how best to support New Zealanders. This report covers the lifetime projected housing support needed, (including public housing, Accommodation Supplement and Temporary Additional Support) by 156,000 adults (or 70,900 households) in public housing or on the public housing register at some time between 1 July 2016 and 30 June 2017.
