Working Paper 01/05: Immigration and Social Cohesion
This working paper sets out some preliminary thinking about the purpose and feasibility of building a coherent indicator framework to monitor the impact of settlement policies on social cohesion. The working paper outlines: current conceptual debates about social cohesion and immigration that have relevance to the New Zealand context; key elements for an indicator framework; data gaps in the New Zealand stocktake of potential indicator measures; policy implications and issues of building an indicator framework; and directions for future conceptual and measurement work.
