Regulatory Impact Statement: Changes to welfare settings to support people into employment and off benefit
This Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) has been prepared by the Ministry of Social Development to help inform the policy decisions taken by the Government in relation to the Social Security Amendment Bill. The RIS analyses a package of proposals to welfare settings that are aimed at supporting people off benefit and into work and contributing to the Government's jobseeker reduction target. The associated Cabinet papers can be found here.
Some parts of this information release would not be appropriate to release and, if requested, would be withheld under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). Where this is the case, the relevant section of the Act that would apply has been identified, for example, information has been withheld under section 9(2)(h) of the Act to maintain legal professional privilege. Where information has been withheld, no public interest has been identified that would outweigh the reason for withholding it.
Some elements of the proposals analysed in this RIS were subsequently modified, for example, settings of both non-financial sanctions.
