Linwood incident

To be attributed to Ministry of Social Development Chief Executive, Brendan Boyle:

We can confirm a threat involving a firearm occurred outside the Linwood Work and Income site this morning.

Police quickly made an arrest and an individual will be appearing in court.

We take very seriously any threats to MSD staff.

MSD and Police will continue to work closely together. People cannot and should not be able to threaten others without consequence.

MSD sites in the area were closed as a precaution for staff and the public but all have now reopened including Linwood.
