Welfare that Works - Community Job Coaching
13 January 2026.
Community Job Coaching was announced as part of Budget 2025 to help more young jobseekers prepare for and move into employment.
Delivered through contracted community providers, the programme will support:
- 4,000 clients in its first year
- 6,000 clients in its second year
Community Job Coaching is part of the Government’s Welfare that Works manifesto where community providers help 18-24 year old jobseekers develop a plan to overcome their barriers to employment. It aligns with the Government’s goal to reduce the number of people receiving Jobseeker Support by 50,000 by 2030.
The programme is now open to eligible MSD clients in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, East Coast, Wellington, Canterbury and Southern MSD regions. To find out more, visit the Work and Income website.
