New Pacific Employment Action Plan Fund available

The Pacific Employment Action Plan Fund for programmes to help build prosperous Pacific communities, is now open for expressions of interest.

Pacific employment providers can download an Expression of Interest form on the Work and Income website from today.

The $7 million fund, over three years to 30 June 2026 aims to help increase Pacific employment, self-employment and business ownership.

Employment and wage rates for Pacific peoples are lower than the national average.

MSD wants to partner with Pacific providers to design and deliver innovative employment and training programmes for Pacific communities.

This could be a mix of established organisations wanting to expand an existing programme or start a new one, and new organisations needing funding to get started.

The funding will:

  • support community-led employment and training to assist Pacific workers get skilled jobs in high growth and sustainable sectors.
  • continue progress towards the implementation of the Pacific Employment Action Plan by diversifying the Pacific workforce and addressing systemic barriers to employment
  • advance the goals and objectives of the Pacific Prosperity and wider All of government Pacific Wellbeing strategy through economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods for Pacific communities.

The fund is administered by the Ministry of Social Development in partnership with the Ministry for Pacific Peoples.
