Funding for new participants
This funding is to provide current MSD Community Participation providers with additional funding so they can offer their services to more people and additional participant days to current participants.
This funding will support providers to align their services with the Enabling Good Lives approach.
The funding is part of the $14.35 million approved at the end of 2022 to support the extension of Community Participation services and the provider network across Aotearoa New Zealand. It’s believed that additional contributory funding to current Community Participation providers will allow more disabled people to access the services they need.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the funding, the organisation must:
- have a contract with MSD providing Community Participation services for disabled people
- have a demonstrated commitment to ongoing improvement in service delivery
- be meeting existing contractual obligations.
New Participants Funds criteria and application process
Providers are required to complete the New Participants Fund application form and submit it to vocational_services_disability@msd.govt.nz from September 2023.
As part of your application, you will need to answer a number of questions – including the following:
- Describe your organisation and its mission, including how it aligns with the Enabling Good Lives approach.
- How do you ensure that your participants and their whānau have control and choice over the services they receive?
- How many additional participants over and above your current contract can you offer Community Participation services to?
- Which priority groups will you provide services to, ie Māori, Pacific, Ethnic? Please provide numbers for each group.
- Which cities/towns/regions will you provide services to? Please provide numbers for each location?
- Describe the services and support you will be offering additional participants?
- Of your existing participants, how many could you offer additional days to?
- Are you currently meeting your contractual participant numbers for Community Participation services? Yes or no.
Evaluation of applications
Requests for new participants will be reviewed by MSD following the end of the application process.
The evaluation will take into account the following:
- Ability to successfully provide services to the additional number of participants
- Ability to attract participants to the additional places
- Alignment with the Enabling Good Lives approach
- Geographical location of the services
- Services for priority groups.
Funding for new participants will be confirmed by MSD after all applications are received.
